YELLOW, OR ALL THAT REMAINS OF YOU

You live your life the victim of
a Giallo film. Disemboweled
and left to your own defences.

All that remains of you splayed out
on the carpet, filling the room
with an ocher gloom.

You know the killer because the
killer is you

THE VOICE OF DARKNESS

A stranger slides into bed
with you at night,
breathes down your neck,
fills you with fright
The storm rattles windows
Thunder forebodes
Your bones quiver as
the voice of the dark lets out a cry
Your whole body shivers as
the nightmare lurks by your side

I WILL STILL VISIT

to taste your sugar-kissed lips once more
to sing praise to the grave
and spend holidays in decrepit cemeteries
with withered flowers in my hand
waiting for the day to come

I will still visit—you who are mine
until my own lifeless body
sinks into the ground
and your love swallows me whole
like the earth
like the worms
that feast on your lovely flesh

MIDNIGHT MOVIE

The ceiling drips midnight stories
Gory parts of a horror film
Chocolate syrup stains the carpet
The monster steals us to another realm
The terrifying plot unfurls
Danger lurks in the foggy gloom
Shadows curl around your ankles
Just before the killer takes you
