For over twenty years, the artwork of John Phillip Cameron has ventured into surreal and often times uncomfortable realms and concepts. At an early age, he was deeply inspired by the works of such artists as Kristian Whalin and H.R. Giger for their execution of high-detailed dark imagery and occult themes. Preceding his interest in photo-manipulation, his work was primarily developed in both colored pencil and graphite. However, in late 2007 he found a new passion in working with digital mediums while experimenting with Adobe Photoshop and Wacom styluses, tools he now uses to render all of his current works. John’s most recent works are an unrivaled combination of processed digital photography with additional 2D and 3D modeled compliments. The subject matter of a majority of his work stems from the mythology and cast of his yet to be written dark tale, “Memories from Childhood”, a story that follows the journey of two children set to rescue their mother’s forfeit soul from the Norse concept of “Hel”. Several of the images you will be introduced to are the denizens of “The Afterdeth”, a unique world that is slowly being crafted for the backdrop to this dark tale.
