Art has always been a part of Hannah Hoyt’s life. Hannah (also known as Madame Aradia) began drawing and painting at a young age, learning to express herself through pencil and paintbrush. Her preferred medium is acrylic paints, although she has some experience with oils (“They don’t dry fast enough!”), watercolors, colored pencil, ink, and charcoal. Recently, she used regular household paints to create a simple mural in her home office. She is a self-taught artist and her inspirations often come from nature, music, poetry, dreams, and life’s trails. Hannah’s paintings almost always bring the observer into a story...a story designed to evoke strong (and often uncomfortable) emotions. Hannah has had her art displayed at the Indianapolis Harrison Center for the Arts, Mo*Con by the Indiana Horror Writers, Inc., the Carmel Arts & Design District Gallery Walk, and on occasion, some local coffee houses. When she isn’t painting, Hannah can be found in her garden. You can read her blog about being a garden witch and see photos of her garden (and her paintings, of course) on her website www.thegardenwitch.com.
