Sharmila Mitra, a former high school teacher of English, is a poet with two volumes of poetry to her credit. Poetry is what she breathes. However, she has very recently been trying her hand at fine arts, mostly pencil or charcoal drawing, and painting. She is not a trained artist. Artistic endeavors are therapeutic to her life full of struggle. She lives with her eighty-year-old mother and her rescues at her ancestral house in Kolkata. The house is eighty five years old, and there are old trees in the front yard, which make a landmark of the house.
