John Wray was born September 3rd 1956 in County Durham, England, and has been interested in art from a very young age. John is self-taught and paints and draws primarily for his own pleasure. He works as a healthcare professional (operating theatres), and in his free time, enjoys the relaxation that painting and drawing can bring, and the buzz that comes from creating a unique piece of work from a blank canvas.

After showing his work on the internet, John has been contacted by several individuals who offer commissioned work, including drawings, CD cover design and concert promotion material. John undertook those commissions and found that he really enjoys the challenge of bringing other people’s ideas to fruition. 

Artists who have inspired John are Salvador Dali, Roberto Matta, Ernst Fuchs and Patrick Caufield.

Musicians who have inspired John are David Bowie, Van der Graaf Generator and King Crimson.
