The Horror Zine BEWARE

Beware Poets of Blood! Their motto is "Bleed for a Cause" but do they really?

John E. Wordslinger claims they contribute all proceeds to charity.

The Horror Zine has proof that their claim is FALSE!

John E. Wordslinger

WHO: Poets of Blood (John E. Wordslinger and Tammie Jo Tamborini)

REASON: Lies about donating to charity

WHY THE HORROR ZINE IS INVOLVED: John E. Wordslinger went through The Horror Zine to gather email addresses from poets who contributed to The Horror Zine.

Then Mr. Wordslinger proceeded to scam The Horror Zine poets by emailing them all a mass mailing (each poet received the exact same email) telling them if they would contribute poetry to Poets of Blood, that he would publish them "for a cause."

SEE THE EMAIL FROM CAROL ALCORN AT THE RIGHT SIDE OF THIS PAGE WHICH IS PROOF THAT JOHN E. WORDSLINGER IS LYING.

The Horror Zine has a strict policy against emailing contributors of fiction, poetry, or art for any reason other than legitimate offers of payment for their works (or for fan mail and emails of appreciation). That policy is on our Submissions Guidelines page HERE.

Here is the email that John E. Wordslinger mass emailed to The Horror Zine poets (every poet received the exact same email). Notice the poor grammar and poor spelling. I copied and pasted Wordslinger's email as written:

Dear Poets of Blood:

As is my legal right, I am demanding answers to the following questions:

What percentage of your profits go to the homeless?
Do you have documents stating you do as such?
Are you licensed to do so?
If so, are you profit or non-profit?

THE RESPONSE FROM WORDSLINGER (BELOW) IS FILLED WITH LIES. See proof of lies to the right of this page, the email from the Illiniois Valley PADS charity>>>to the right>>>

Great, what Pads will tell you is yes they know about us, and
we are helping the homeless, and that they are not a commercial website,
So we have to do that part of the work, her name is Carol Alcorn.
She told us what to do, and information with the state of Illinois‘,
and we are waiting on the state of Illinois’ to send us our information, and license.
And she said it may take three years, because the state of Illinois is slow to matters like this unfortunately, and she said, just donate what money you do get,
and keep track of everything.
So in the meantime we're working hard to keep the ball rolling.
We are legit, and we shall keep it that way.
We will post all information public, and to the Poets of Blood,
as we always have, as we get it.
And yes we understand why, and respect that largely.
Answers to your questions.
We would give them a check.
we donate 100 percent to http://ivpads.com/
Yes we have documentation that says as such
We are non-profit.
The price was based off what was current at the time, and yes we are debating on that also, but much money is needed to help the homeless. Volume 1 hasnt sold but 17 copies..
Ok, now I was going to post to you also that I was sending Poets your way, I was waiting on the date April 2, that you were taking poetry submissions, and yes it does seem like that, and I apologize for not contacting, and I was, I was going to post your site, and info on my fb page, and also find you there, and send you a friend request.
I still will, if you want me too. I jumped the gun a bit, but you were, and are in my plans.
I get happy when I see great poets, so I didn’t think, and took a bad step, my bad.
I really appreciate your concern, and respect that.
And it is good that you keep people in check.
I am sure that this will all work out positively,
and we can help each other...

By the way, I answered Mr. Wordslinger and told him to please not "send any of his poets my way."

This book:

Poets of Blood

...has a very high price of $19.99 for only 112 pages.

When asked why the price of the book was so high, John E. Wordslinger told The Horror Zine that 100% of profits are donated to charity.

When asked what charity, John E. Wordslinger told The Horror Zine that all money from the book Poets of Blood is donated to Illinois Valley PADS, a non-profit organization.

The Horror Zine contacted a homeless rights advocate who in turn talked directly to Illinois Valley PADS.

And guess what? All of John E. Wordslinger's claims that he donates profits to charity are FALSE.

Here's proof!

Subject: Illinois Valley PADS/ Poets of Blood

I am writing in regards to a book published through Create Space called Poets of Blood. In October of last year, I was called by a Tammie Tamborini about a possible fund raising opportunity. We are a non for profit homeless shelter program and have operated for the last 19 years in our communities. I am open to possible fundraising opportunities. I was given the email address of one John Wordslinger. I communicated with him and received his work phone number. I spoke to him. He told me about the book. I asked him what the subject matter was and he said gothic, dark poetry. I shared with him that I did not feel that our Board would support this project but I would share it with them.

He sent me a copy of what he had going. I took it to our Board and they stated that they did not want any part of the project. A letter was emailed to both Tammie and John. By the way, I do not even know if his last name is Wordslinger or not. We do not have any mailing information but an email address.

We have not heard about the project, or from them, nor have we given him any of our financial or sales number.  We have not received any monies and have not set anything up to receive monies from the sale of this book. Therefore, their claim that the profits will be ours is a stretch or even a lie.

I have never met either one of these individuals nor do we have a working relationship. The Board sent an email to make it clear that we do not work with these type of projects. John and Tammy were not given any information like our tax number or our EIN number.  We have not heard from either of them since November last year. We have not received any monies and have nothing set up. The Board is considering involving our attorney. Thank you for your attention to this issue.
