Hailing from a quaint little town by the name of Houston, Texas, Leah Herskowitz has been studying and dabbling in the arts since she was  five years old. She held her first artistic instrument, a hot pink highlighter, at the age of two, and the magic hasn't stopped since. Through both private lessons and the strong encouragement and teachings of some very talented middle school and high school instructors, she has honed her technical drawing and painting skills.

Leah's influences range from classical painters and artists such as Leonardo DaVinci and Monet to modern Illustrators and Animators such as David Shannon and Hayao Miyazaki. Stylistically her work is very versatile and can range from realistic to a more illustrative comic book style. She takes inspiration from music, nature, current events, history, art history, and other artists. In the last thirteen years she has experimented with a plethora of different medias including digital media. Conceptually, her work covers many different topics such as life, death, and happiness in today's ever changing world. Portraits, landscapes, and more abstract and surreal scenes are just a few of the subjects that are included in her work. She enjoys drawing skulls, bones, and anatomical figures. Mixing serious subjects with bright colors, Leah loves to juxtapose certain ideas in order to leave her artwork to the viewer's own interpretation.

Leah recently graduated from high school and starts her first year at the Savannah College of Art and Design in the fall of 2010 and hopes to pursue a career in Illustration, Animation, or Sequential Arts (comic booking).
