Patrick Call is 21 years old and he is from Denver, Colorado. He considers himself a Dark Surrealist, a style he describes as a mixture of Surrealism, Social Realism and Darkism; a term he often has used to describe his work. He graduated from a private high school in Englewood, where he studied with (and continues to study with) a great art teacher, Elizabeth Braden, who has her MFA from The Rhode Island School of Design.

People, politics, phobia, obsession, anxiety, love, hate, genocide, and above all, dreams inspire his work. He paints his personal anxiety, political views, friends, enemies, depression and the world through the eyes of a young contemporary Dark Surrealist.

Rules and boundary have little to no meaning for Patrick when it comes to art. Some people may see his work as “controversial,” but Patrick simply sees his work as art that people should be aware of; not by the literal elements in his paintings, but by the meaning of his work as a whole.

Patrick just finished a show in February 2010 at The Rebel Salon in LoDo, Denver, Colorado. His next show will be held at the Meadowlark Bar, also in LoDo, Denver at 2701 Larimer Street. If you live in the Denver area, please stop by and support your local artists!
