Her name is Sophia Tabak, but people know her as Sof. She is an illustrator and painter from Ottawa, Canada. Sof was originally interested in illustration, and rather detested painting until a few years after high school. However, once she started to paint, she got into it. When she was 21, she had her first solo exhibition of her paintings, which were a series of trees painted against night skies. After this show, Sof resumed focus on illustration once again. Many of Sof’s illustrations are done free-hand. She mostly uses inks and fine liner pens, however, she does enjoy working with pencil crayons as well. She works on all different types of paper, including watercolor paper, dry media paper and various bits of scrap cardboard, and canvas board. She is not sure how to describe her work, perhaps 'tribal' of some sort with a hint of 'street art' influence in there as well. The inspiration for her work comes from music and people close to her. Being hard of hearing, she finds it hard to express herself verbally and to understand others, so she uses her illustrations to show her understanding. You can see more of Sof’s art HERE
