Zbigniew Fitz was born in Poland and attended the High School of Fine Arts and later the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow. He holds a masters degree in Painting and Art History. After several years in Paris, Zbigniew came to the USA, invited by one of the leading textile companies from New York City to begin his career as a Textile Designer.

His first show of paintings was the group exhibition at the Dimock Gallery in Washington, DC. The title of the show was METAPHORICAL TRENDS IN ART.

In 1986 he and his wife decided to spend some time in Europe to explore and study in the Museums of France, Germany and Italy. During his stay in Europe he had several exhibitions in the galleries, like Spirale in Prato, Italy, Foundation Paul Ricard in France, show in Monaco, Monte Carlo. Big Retrospective exhibit in the Municipal Museum in Draguignan, France. Also succesful photography exhibition in the prestigious Photography Museum in Mougins, France.

In 1996 Zbigniew received, along with his wife, a grant from private collector from California. Same year he came back to the US and made his home in Phoenix, Arizona. Between 1996 and 2001 he had many painting exhibitions in Phoenix, Santa Barbara and two-person show at the Dinnerware Contemporary Art Gallery in Tucson, AZ.

In 2006 he moved to South Carolina and in 2007 he and his wife had Retrospective exhibition of paintings at the Greenwood, SC Museum.

Recently he is experimenting with digital photography, treating this medium as a painting, exploring new technologies, working with textures and layers like in the Old Masters paintings glaze. The result is deepness and complexity helping to forget boundaries between painting and photography.
