FROM THE ROBBY SERIES
|
Margaret Schons is a 23-year-old art student who spent nine months attending the Art institute of Portland and is currently finishing a degree in illustration online from the Academy of Art based out of San Fransisco. She finds inspiration in novels from Ray Bradbury, Robert Heinlen, and Tolkien to classic english liturature and folktales. Her interests in books are varied from sci-fi, fantasy, and classic so long as they are good: movies from Tim Burton, Pixar, Dreamworks, and of course, Star Wars (the originals). The one constant in her work is finding beauty in the unusual, the strange, vintage, querky, or just plain odd. Her focus is on traditional mediums from watercolor, acrylic, pencil, pastel, and mixed mediums. There really is no limit since she likes to try anything new. Her current work is on a Childrens storybook about a little robot named Robby who finds simple treasures in the great outdoors. At twelve years old, Margaret was diagnosed with high-functioning Asbergers Syndrome and due to this handicap, making friends was always difficult so books became her first best friend. Envisioning other worlds and finding beauty in the unusual has taught her that being different is just another word for special. You can see more of Margaret’s art HERE
