Frank Hester was born in 1958 in a small town in California named Marina. He spent all his formative years there until moving to his current hometown of Hastings, Nebraska.

Frank grew up in the midst of the rock and roll revolution of the sixties and the music played a very important role in his art. The old school rock and roll art posters were everywhere and really had an effect on what he perceived as art.

Frank had no formal training, just an idea of what he felt he needed to say, and he tries to incorporate words or lyrics into his art. Everybody seems to have that favorite song or their favorite lyrics and he attempts to capture the feel of the music, making it into something to see rather than hear.

He also enjoys creating art using nothing but a person’s name. Each letter or combination of letters takes him into a different direction. it’s not exactly made for the masses but that’s ok with him because he draws for the pure enjoyment of it. He mainly uses Pitt art pens and Bristol smooth art paper.
